Technician Service – Occupational Therapy

Our team of Trusted Assessor Technicians carry out minor home adaptations across most of Kent, from Crayford to Margate, Biggin Hill to Romney – 1,200sq miles (except Medway) – for the combined Kent & Medway CCG, facilitating Rapid Hospital Discharge or Urgent Admission Avoidance on behalf of 25 Acute & Community Hospitals, 7 Hospices, KCHFT Rapid Response Teams, CNRT and Rehab.

Service provision

We fit the following items on behalf of NHS Prescribers – all details viewable in the NRS equipment catalogue on IRIS4 for “Technician only supply and fit”

Fixing of toilet frames to floors – please order new frames & arrange collection of existing as we will not fix used frames, we can supply and install fix kit. Be aware of underfloor heating

Plastic grab rails – in 12”, 18” and 24” - fitted in “wet” areas – usually on tiles, on solid walls only.

Dots on wall really help and/or specify position, though we are able to assess.

Adjustable drop down rail with leg – please specify height required and left/right of toilet as seated

Floor mounted weston rail and floor to wall mounted toileting grab rails

Wall mounted bath roard and Wall mounted shower seat with and without arms, Swedish bath rail

Metal grab rails – in 18”, 24”, 28”, 36” and 44” White Metal – deep. shallow or offset as suited.

Please specify middle grab position and angle - by measurements and/or dots Can be vertical/horizontal/diagonal – also available in Brown in 18” and 24” only We also supply a deep Metal D-Rail to a wall where there are 2 steps up

Half steps – external adjustable bigfoot plastic half steps up to 5” height – also handles on step

Threshold ramps – checkerplate small internal ramps cut to fit in 1”, 2” or 3” threshold height

Stair banisters and rails

Newell Rrare Left or Right Handed as you look up the stairs and can be fitted to most wood posts Mopstick – please count the number of steps to cover and indicate number of flights and/or landings We will automatically match existing or building regulation height unless otherwise specified.

Diagrams are not needed as we will assess and custom build on site

Note: We cannot span open areas or replace missing bannister to open sided stairwells.

Stair stanchion rails – we can often fix these in the case of hollow walls – if the stair type allows.

Raising of chairs, sofas and beds – Please provide measured lower leg length.

As much info as possible about legs/castors please – have a good look underneath.

No need to specify raiser, we will select appropriate, but we do need to know if a hoist/stand aid is to be used and if Hip precautions are needed.

Note: Reclining or footrest chairs, sofa beds and profiling/motorised beds cannot be raised

We do not fit external galvanised rails, ramps or bathroom floor to ceiling pole please, refer to KCC
