Who we are
The Oncology Dietetic team is made up of four Dietitians and we support patients in the east Kent area undergoing cancer (Oncology) treatment.
What we do
We support patients having oncology treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunotherapy) in east Kent who experience difficulty eating either due to their cancer or cancer treatment. We also support patients who have completed their oncology treatment but have ongoing difficulties with eating or drinking or have long term symptoms which affect what they can eat.
We work closely with other healthcare professionals working in the Oncology team, including Oncologists, clinical nurse specialists, therapeutic radiographers and speech and language therapists. We also work with other specialist dietitians from other teams who have expertise in other areas, this may include tube feeding, diabetes and surgery.
How do you access the service?
You need to be referred by your GP or another qualified healthcare professional (subject to meeting referral criteria). You must be registered with a GP.

We would recommend the following websites as a reliable source of information for those having cancer treatment who have questions about nutrition.
There are also several charities that support specific cancer types – ask your clinical nurse specialist for advice.
