CHIS Improving Immunisation Uptake Team

The IIU Team are focused on reducing variation in immunisations and increasing uptake rates in children aged 0 to 5 years with particular focus on under-served children and communities in the Kent and Medway.

The IIU Team is a specialist team that is part of Child Health Information Service (CHIS).

The IIU Team includes clinicians (Paediatric Nurse) with immunisation experience supported by an analyst/facilitator who has experience of CHIS as well as a Senior GP Liaison Clinical Advisory Lead, GP Liaison and Data Quality Lead, Data Analyst and an administrator.

  • use primary care immunisation data to target practices with the highest percentage of incomplete immunisations
  • provide targeted practices with up-to-date monthly trackers and reports for children with outstanding and/or incomplete immunisations
  • share data with practices and commissioners to ensure all are updated on the outcomes achieved and, where necessary, to escalate concerns
  • identify “ghost patients”, incorrect coding and data transfer issues which impacts on uptake rates
  • support to review and develop processes.
