This e-learning package is designed to support individuals with:

  • Awareness of professional roles and responsibilities related to suprapubic and urethral catheterisations
  • An understanding of the physiological and psychological effects of catheterisation
  • Awareness of appropriate catheterisation and how to reduce or manage complications/trouble shooting
  • The Healthcare Professional (HCP) must be assessed for competency to complete these tasks in the work place by a suitably qualified/competent line manager/mentor/peer. Competencies should be completed within three months of the training course and the outcome recorded. (However, some leeway can be given to this timeline).
  • It is the HCP’s responsibility to ensure competencies are completed in a timely fashion
  • The HCP will have to maintain their own clinical practice in the work place and ensure they maintain their theory and practice by reading relevant journals and accessing approved websites and bulletins.

We do not cover Mitrofanoff on this training.
