How to fortify food

Fortifying food means adding extra calories and protein to your meals without adding any extra volume.

This is good for people who have a small appetite or for those who struggle to eat large quantities.

The foods below can be added to all meals, including your breakfast, lunch and dinner as well snacks.

  • One tablespoon of any oil 120kcals.
  • One tablespoon skimmed milk powder 52kcals.
  • One tablespoon single cream 28kcals.
  • One tablespoon double cream 70kcals.
  • One tablespoon butter 75kcals.
  • One tablespoon mayonnaise 100kcals.
  • One tablespoon salad cream 48kcals.
  • One tablespoon peanut butter 100kcals.
  • One tablespoon chocolate spread 85kcals.
  • One tablespoon sugar 48kcals.
  • One tablespoon jam 48kcals.
  • One tablespoon honey 50kcals.
  • One tablespoon golden syrup 50kcals.
  • Match box size cheddar cheese (30g) 125kcals.
  • One tablespoon Lactose free cream 52kcal.
