Kent School Health Service is able to offer one-to-one support to help your child grow in a healthy way. Our one-to-one support provides extra help after attending a healthy weight webinar. Parents are encouraged to apply the strategies from the webinar for three months before accessing further support.

We’ll look at

  • ways to set small goals and physical activities that you may enjoy together
  • what makes a healthy diet and how this helps us stay a healthy weight
  • sugar, where your child might be eating it and how to reduce this by swapping sugary drinks and snacks
  • helpful websites and apps like Better Health and Healthier Families to help with meal planning and cooking
  • screen and sleep time
  • portion sizes for children and adults
  • food labels and getting your child involved with looking at these
  • exploring your family’s food triggers
  • look at the six ways to wellbeing, to encourage you and your child to take part in doing things that make you all feel good

We’ll support you with ways to maintain your healthy eating and activity, and how to review your goals as you go. We’ll also complete a health needs assessment review and ask you to rate your knowledge after the support package has bee completed.

You can make another referral or contact us in the future if you feel things are not getting any better or you need more support.
