Supermarkets in the UK stock a wide range of goods. Aside from food and drink you can also shop there for clothing and non-food goods which are often cheaper than the high street brands. For Grocery shopping, Aldi and Lidl are considered the cheapest, whilst Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons are mid-range and offer more globally recognised brands.

As the UK welcomes cultures from around the world, halal meat and foodstuffs are widely available and is clearly marked. Many supermarkets offer an aisle for international foods section although the choice is limited depending on the size of the store.

Dining out and takeaway food options include American, Chinese, Greek, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Mexican and Portuguese. These are popular choices and available in many towns and cities. Vegetarian, vegan, and dietary specific dishes as well as food which is suitable for those with food intolerances and allergies is also readily available.

It’s normal to leave a tip of around 10 per cent of your total bill if eating in restaurants where you are served at your table, however, this is not mandatory. This additional charge will be incorporated into your bill, so it’s always a good idea to check carefully before paying.
