Health centre project picks up pace

Health centre project picks up paceGround is due to be broken this summer on a new health and wellbeing centre in Edenbridge.

A contractor has been appointed to carry out the work, which will bring all community care into one place.

The new integrated health and wellbeing centre will replace Edenbridge Medical Practice and Edenbridge and District War Memorial Hospital.

It will offer the community a one-stop shop for healthcare services, including GP appointments, eye care, wound management clinics, management of chronic diseases, antenatal care, children’s immunisation, stop smoking support, family planning, memory and dementia support, to name a few.

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) will continue to run the minor injury unit, therapy services, foot care and health visitors on the new site.

Local community and staff involvement in the plan have been crucial and that has continued in 2021 with the public voting on a name for the building – the final decision on this will be announced later this year.

Partners in the project are KCHFT, Kent and Medway NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and Edenbridge Medical Practice. Keep up-to-date with the project at kentcht.nhs.uk/edenbridgefuture.
