KCHFT workforce commends trust’s compassion and inclusivity in NHS national survey
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) has been ranked in the top five NHS community trusts in the country, according to our colleagues.
Results of this year’s national NHS Staff Survey showed KCHFT achieved fifth place in the country for compassion and inclusivity, with 70 per cent of the 3,582 colleagues who completed it saying they would recommend the trust as a place to work.
One of the largest workforce studies in the world, the NHS staff survey has been carried out every year since 2003 to learn more about staff views and improve experience in the NHS.
Seventy per cent of our colleagues responded to the survey, which measures the things that matter most to people at work, including recognition for exceptional work, continual learning and flexible working, along with compassion and inclusivity in the workplace.
We also recorded a 90 per cent score for colleagues who believe their role makes a difference to patients and eight out of 10 staff would feel happy with the standard of care for a friend or relative.
For the third year in a row, staff morale has increased, with seven out of 10 people agreeing their voice counts and there is a strong teamwork ethic.
KCHFT Chief Executive Mairead McCormick (pictured left) said: “To be recognised by our people as a compassionate and inclusive workplace means so much and I am proud of the continued efforts we make to provide a great place to work.
“By listening to, and learning from, our teams we are able to work together to try to create a safe and happy place to work for everybody.
“The NHS Staff Survey is a vital tool to understand how we all feel about working here, especially as we lead the way to deliver the national shift from hospital to community care.
“How people feel when they come to work is serious business. It impacts on not only careers but also the quality of care we deliver in our communities."
