UPDATE: 1.30pm, Saturday, 30 November.

If you are planning on visiting our drop-in recruitment open day, at West View Integrated Care Centre today, please do not as we have now closed the event due to an overwhelming response of attendees.

We have welcomed hundreds of people since 9am and seen all applicants who had a pre-booked appointment.

Instead of popping in, please now email kentchft.recruitment@nhs.net to register your interest.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Would you like a rewarding NHS career, working with others to provide the best possible care in a friendly and welcoming environment?

We’re looking for band two healthcare assistants and band five qualified nurses for our community rehabilitation wards in Tenterden and Hawkhurst.

West View Integrated Care Centre is a purpose-built facility, set in landscaped grounds on the edge of Tenterden. Hawkhurst Hospital is a well-loved community hospital, with gardens, a day room and a gym.

Both sites provide person-centred rehabilitation for elderly, frail patients who need extra support to get home safely.

Recruitment open day: Saturday, 30 November

If you’re ready to come to community, pop down to our recruitment open day at West View Integrated Care Centre, between 9am and 4pm on Saturday, 30 November.

You can drop-in any time for an informal chat, a tour of the ward and an introduction to the team.

Bring your ID and two proofs of address and you could leave with a firm job offer.

If you don’t have all the qualifications required in the job description, we may be able support you to gain these while you’re employed by us. Just drop in and have a chat.

Band two healthcare assistants

If you’re kind and compassionate, with a positive attitude and a willingness to help people, you could start a great new career in the NHS. We need healthcare assistants to provide care, comfort and companionship to our patients, as part of a supportive and dynamic team.

HCA Jade LawrenceTherapeutic worker Jade Lawrence (right) said: “I started at West View 10 years ago as a band two healthcare assistant and I’ve been given every opportunity to develop my skills and experience.

“It’s lovely. The team are like a family. I’ve been supported to complete an entry-level degree course and I’m now a therapeutic worker, providing therapy activities for people on the ward.

“It’s very person-centred, we try to support their rehabilitation goals and get them home as quickly as they can.

“There are so many opportunities in the NHS, KCHFT is very supportive of everyone who wants to progress.”

Band five registered nurses

What's different about nursing in a community hospital?

Registered Nurse Ikenna Asiegbu

At West View and Hawkhurst, we have time with our patients. Time to see the whole person and treat the individual, not just the condition. Time to get to know them and their families and build a relationship based on trust, while providing quality care in a nurse and therapy-led environment.

Registered Staff Nurse Ikenna Asiegbu (left) said: “I love to help people and put a smile on their faces. The whole team work together to find ways to support people’s rehabilitation and the appreciation from the patients is what makes my day. We provide quality care that feels like home.”
