Our Healthy Communities Steering Group is part of our work towards reducing health inequalities.
The Healthy Communities Steering Group aims to better understand our communities, reduce health inequalities, and ensure our communities’ voices are heard.
The steering group is a platform to give insight into and share lived experience of health inequalities and barriers experienced by migrant communities and ethnic minorities across Kent and how we can begin to address these, whilst also acting as a consulting group on trust initiatives and projects to enhance equality and inclusion. The steering group meets every month via Microsoft Teams and quarterly in person where possible at various voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across Kent. Each meeting lasts around 60 minutes (the face to face ones can be longer) and days and times are varied.
We also offer spotlight sessions on different topics in between our meetings. Spotlight sessions can be counted as Continuous Professional Development. Find out more about what can be accepted as activities.
Membership is open to all from migrant communities and ethnic minority groups, as well as those who have worked with these communities and have an understanding of inequalities and barriers experienced. Patients, members of the public and colleagues are welcome.
Joining the steering group is quick, easy, and your valuable contribution will help us understand and tackle health inequalities. If you would like to take part and contribute to the steering group, attend meetings and receive updates, please contact: kentchft.equality@nhs.net.
Come along, make your community’s voice heard and help explore and reduce health inequalities across Kent.
