People strategy
We want to work with our patients, carers, communities, partners and staff to continue to offer more innovative, community-based services. Our strategic direction sets out our high level direction. The strategy is our map for the route ahead to make sure we stay strong in terms of the clinical services we offer, the money we have to run those services and how we can best support you.
The goals in our strategy are supported by our solutions and operating models.
We know a motivated, inclusive and valued workforce helps deliver high-quality patient care, increased patient satisfaction and better patient safety. It also leads to more innovation across our organisation and helps us to continually improve. To support our People Strategy, our Nobody left behind, people, equity, diversity and inclusion strategy was developed.
This strategy sets out our commitment, building on what we have already achieved, to help make KCHFT the best employer for our people with equal access to career opportunities and fair treatment in the workplace.

Sustainability strategy - bold visions for a healthier planet
Taking decisions today to safeguard tomorrow for all our communities – it sounds like a bold statement, because it is.
But that’s our vision for environmental sustainability. We are investing in the health and resilience of our communities, as well as our planet, and our sustainability strategy strengthens our commitment:
Consistent with our trust goals and values, we have targeted five key areas for further assessment and actions to support a holistic approach to sustainability across the trust:
- Journeys: By reducing non-essential travel and promoting sustainable transportation, we will contribute to cleaner air and healthier journeys.
- The built environment: By managing and designing our buildings responsibly, we will create healthier spaces for our patients and staff without reliance on burning fossil fuels.
- Supply: By sourcing products locally and supporting our suppliers and service providers to operate more sustainably, we will strengthen the resilience and economies of our communities.
- Wildlife and biodiversity: By caring for our wildlife and investing in our outdoor spaces, we will develop beautiful and healthy spaces for our patients, staff and communities to recover, work and live in.
- Our people: By supporting and empowering our amazing workforce, we will identify opportunities for beneficial change and build a culture of sustainability.
