KCHFT leaders complete women’s coaching programme
We are #KCHFTProud of colleagues Matron Sabrina Darko, Technical Architect Hina Jabeen and Rio Operational Lead Seema Singh for completing the women’s coaching programme for leadership colleagues for staff from ethnic backgrounds.
The course offered selected colleagues from different NHS Trusts in Kent and Medway the opportunity to develop their coaching skills and build confidence.
Almost 300 female service leaders applied for one of the 16 places on the three-month programme led by NHS Kent and Medway and people development provider Werkin.
“We addressed experiences related to cultural identity, career progression, and workplace dynamics, in a supportive and socially aware environment.
“I feel better equipped to handle sensitive, culturally-nuanced discussions at work with empathy and insight.
“The programme reinforced the power of creating safe spaces where people can fully express themselves and embrace their unique perspectives,” said Seema.
Hina told us: “It was an incredible opportunity to be part of an eye-opening and thought-provoking learning experience; the change in my day-to-day meetings is already very noticeable and positive.
“The insights I’ve gained aren’t just concepts but valuable tools I’ll carry forward in both my personal and professional life.
“My stand-out takeaway is the increase in self-awareness – it's like I’ve gained a new lens to view myself and the world around me, and it feels empowering.
“Each session sparked a new level of confidence and motivation in me; I feel inspired to take the next steps, and I have a clear sense of direction.
Sabrina added: “It has broadened my knowledge on how to actively listen when speaking with people, as well as provide my team the chance to solve problems with minimal assistance from me.
“We learned about communication models, such as SBI (Situation, Behaviour and Impact) and GROW (Goal, Reality, Options and Will). I am now using these strategies to guide my conversation at appraisals and one-to-one meetings.”
