If you are having inhalation sedation for your dental treatment, please follow the instructions below.
Please inform us if you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason, if you develop a cold, blocked nose, feel unwell before the appointment or if there are any changes to your medical history.
Please also inform the team if there is any possibility that you may be pregnant or trying to get pregnant before your sedation appointment.
On the day of treatment:
- a responsible adult (over 18) should accompany you, unless otherwise advised
- please do not bring any other dependants to the sedation appointment
- eat a light, non-fatty meal up to two hours before your appointment unless otherwise advised
- take your routine medication at the usual time unless otherwise advised
- do not drink alcohol or use any recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before your appointment
- wear loose, comfortable clothes and flat shoes.
After treatment:
The effect of the sedation normally wears off quickly, however for two hours after treatment you should not:
- drive a vehicle, ride a bicycle or scooters
- operate machinery, including domestic appliances
- cook, use sharp utensils or pour hot liquids
- make any important decisions
- use the internet/social media
- be responsible for children or other dependants.
You may be able to return to work/school. Your dentist will discuss this with you.
