Flu vaccination for two and three-year-olds
Last edited: 03/02/2023
Children can catch and spread flu easily. Vaccinating them also protects others who are vulnerable to flu, such as babies and older people.
Flu is caused by the influenza virus. It can be a very unpleasant illness for children. It can also lead to serious problems, such as bronchitis and pneumonia.
The children's nasal spray flu vaccine is offered every year to children aged two to three years of age from their GP surgery. The vaccine is given as a spray squirted up each nostril. It's quick, painless, safe and effective. The Immunisation Team is offering drop-in sessions for children at community clinics for those who haven't had their flu immunisation already. There is no need to book an appointment, just drop-in on the day.
